Show Notes

On this weeks podcast C&SI is continuing a 5 part series for the summer months where we are sharing a series of reflections and homilies by Bishop Robert Barron from Word on Fire Ministries focusing on one of the most understood books of the Bible, the Book of Revelation.

In addition to the second reflection in this series, we have our regular podcast numbers including a run through the liturgical odds and ends for the coming week, and of course a reflection on the Sunday gospel (Luke 9:51-62) where we are back into ordinary time and Luke presents some once more the challenge of discipleship to us in this weeks gospel - that challenge and call that we must intentionally take up again and again to be counter cultural witnesses in the world.

Just to note for listeners that Shane is travelling in far distant places over the next few weeks so our apologies in advance for some of the sound quality which isn't exactly the greatest.

Right Praise, Right Order
T
he last stanza of a poem, the last chapter of a novel, or the last lines of a play are of extraordinary significance, but only if you’ve read the whole work up to that point. Similarly, to understand the book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible, we have to attend to the great sweep of the story beginning in Genesis. The thrust of that biblical narrative—that we are meant to give God right praise, and from right praise follows right order—reaches its culmination in Christ, the Lamb who was slain, who brings the whole universe together in right praise.
